The Tamil Nadu government has announced the establishment of a dedicated Semiconductor and Electronics Manufacturing Park at Maduramangalam in Kancheepuram district. The state will invest ₹175 crore through the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) to build the specialized industrial facility.
Making a suo motu statement in the Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay said the project is aimed at attracting global and domestic investments into the semiconductor ecosystem and expanding the state’s manufacturing capabilities.
The upcoming park in Kancheepuram will house a global-standard Research and Development (R&D) centre designed to support companies setting up semiconductor manufacturing and fabrication operations. The state government expects the dedicated infrastructure to draw investments worth around ₹2,000 crore and generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for nearly 5,000 people.
Alongside the semiconductor project, the Chief Minister announced two other major industrial initiatives aimed at regional development across the state.
A new FinTech Hub will be set up in Coimbatore at an estimated cost of ₹400 crore. The project will be developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO). It will feature modern office spaces, high-end laboratories, skill-development centres, and training facilities to promote innovations in digital financial services and create high-skilled jobs in western Tamil Nadu.
Additionally, the state government will establish a Multi-Modal Logistics Hub in the Tiruchi region based on a project feasibility report prepared by TIDCO. The logistics hub is intended to support the dense network of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and heavy engineering industries operating in and around Tiruchi by streamlining freight movement and lowering supply-chain costs.
These announcements follow the state’s broader policy push to build sector-specific industrial clusters, modernize logistics through dry ports and multi-modal terminals, and draw high-technology manufacturing investments across different districts of Tamil Nadu.
