iDEAL Semiconductor Partners with Marubun to Distribute SuperQ Power MOSFETs in Japan

iDEAL Semiconductor has established a distribution agreement with Japan-based value-added technology distributor Marubun Corporation to expand commercial access to its patented SuperQ® power MOSFET portfolio. The collaboration bridges iDEAL’s proprietary silicon architecture with Marubun’s sales network and technical support infrastructure, targeting power electronics designers seeking to improve efficiency and power density across Japan’s industrial and automotive manufacturing corridors.

Under the terms of the agreement, Marubun will stock and distribute iDEAL’s expanding line of high-performance silicon MOSFETs. Engineered to push silicon past traditional performance thresholds, the SuperQ technology platform lowers conduction and switching losses while maintaining complete pin-to-pin and process compatibility with standard gate drives, industry-standard packaging, and mature silicon manufacturing processes. By avoiding the need for specialized gate-drive circuitry or unconventional assembly techniques often required by wide-bandgap alternatives, the architecture allows hardware engineers to drop high-efficiency power switches directly into established circuit topologies.

The expansion targets acute power density, thermal dissipation, and conversion efficiency challenges across several demanding end markets. These include industrial robotics and factory automation, battery management systems, telecom and industrial power supplies, isolated DC-DC converters, and hyperscale data center power distribution units. Rodney Hsing, Vice President of Distribution Sales at iDEAL Semiconductor, stated that Marubun’s regional engineering expertise and deep customer relationships will enable Japanese power designers to lift overall system performance within the familiar economics of silicon.

From a component procurement perspective, the agreement provides Japanese original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with a direct channel to source high-voltage, low-resistance silicon switches amid tightening efficiency regulations. Takehiko Akiyama, Executive Director at Marubun Corporation, noted that incorporating SuperQ silicon power devices allows the distributor to address increasing customer demands regarding cost efficiency, electrical performance, and field reliability.

For the broader power semiconductor market, the partnership demonstrates the continuing commercial relevance of advanced silicon engineering alongside gallium nitride and silicon carbide. While wide-bandgap materials have gained traction in high-voltage segments, optimizing the fundamental drift region in bulk silicon delivers competitive figures of merit at lower production costs and with predictable supply-chain availability. By coupling proprietary device physics with Marubun’s distribution network, iDEAL Semiconductor secures an essential operational gateway into East Asia’s high-density power conversion and industrial hardware ecosystems.
