GSME and Teradyne Partner to Launch Advanced Semiconductor Test Center in Silicon Valley

GS Microelectronics U.S., Inc. (GSME) and automated test equipment leader Teradyne, Inc. have entered a multi-year strategic collaboration to establish an advanced semiconductor test and evaluation center. Based at GSME’s newly opened 42,000-square-foot Silicon Valley headquarters, the facility is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2026 to bridge the gap between initial device evaluation and high-volume commercial production.

The multi-year initiative focuses on resolving critical yield and validation bottlenecks in increasingly intricate silicon architectures. Under the agreement, GSME will operate a dedicated, Teradyne-outfitted test floor. The infrastructure integrates high-throughput automated test systems with the latest probers and test handlers, establishing an environment capable of device characterization, test program generation, and pilot-line production runs.

As modern chip complexity escalates, testing demands have expanded significantly beyond basic functional checks. The new facility will specifically target high-frequency and mission-critical domains, including silicon photonics, automotive grade semiconductors, radio frequency (RF) designs, and precision power management architectures. In particular, roughly 10 percent of the technical engagement and tooling capacity will directly address next-generation AI workloads, accommodating the intensive thermal envelopes, high pin-count signal routing, and rapid I/O validation demanded by hyperscaler compute clusters and specialized AI accelerators.

The physical lab in California forms the anchor for an expanded global engineering footprint. GSME is scaling its technical staff across key semiconductor clusters, adding specialized test development engineers across the United States, Taiwan, Europe, and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. These distributed teams will provide direct design-in support, write customized device test vectors, and optimize multi-site test coverage to compress development schedules for fabless designers and integrated device manufacturers (IDMs).

Beyond internal test development, the companies will run joint commercial operations, including co-selling programs, target account development, hands-on customer workshops, and technical briefings. Standardizing on Teradyne’s automated platforms enables GSME customers to streamline tape-out and packaging cycles, establishing correlated test data that carries over seamlessly into tier-one outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) production lines.

“Standardizing on Teradyne’s flagship test platforms enhances our custom silicon and manufacturing enablement services while giving customers a seamless pathway from device evaluation and test development to production readiness,” said Farhat Jahangir, President and CEO of GSME. “By combining GSME’s expertise in high-speed hyperscaler, analog and RF design, power management, manufacturing, and quality assurance with Teradyne’s advanced test infrastructure, we are enabling customers to innovate faster and bring next-generation products to market with confidence.”

“As semiconductor designs grow more complex, driven by AI data center buildouts, rapid access to high-performance test development capabilities becomes essential,” noted Shannon Poulin, President of Teradyne’s Semiconductor Test Group.”This partnership combines Teradyne’s leading test platforms with GSME’s deep engineering expertise to help customers move efficiently from development into volume production.”
